Effect of Teeth in The Line of The Mandibular Fracture on Infection Treated with Compression Osteosynthesis

|
Fifty-one patients with fracture of mandible were treated by rigid internal fixation using AO Eccentric Dynamic Compression Plate. All teeth in the fracture line were left in all patients. None of patients were placed into maxillomandibular
fixation.
Two patients postoperatively developed infection (39%). The use of the AO EDCP for the fracture of mandible was found to be useful to prevent the infection, even permitting maintenance of the teeth in the line of fracture.
